Taxi

Tokyo taxis are perhaps the cleanest and best maintained in the world. Drivers are extremely polite and professional, but most do not speak English. Therefore, it is crucial that any addresses are written in Japanese, but it should be noted that it is also common for taxi drivers to get lost in unfamiliar territory, due to the complicated Japanese address system.

Taxi fares begins at JPY 710 for the first 2 kilometres; and JPY 90 for every 288 metres. Also 30% surcharge applies for travel between 11:00 pm to 5:00 am. Tipping is not expected.
