Two For One
The Geisha / The Flamingo
Located on the 1/F of the newly refurbished Geisha restaurant, club and sake bar complex on the corner of Shaanxi and Fuxing Roads, Shanghai’s latest must-go nightspot The Flamingo ‘Miami Bar and Playhouse’ means the building now offers a quadruple whammy of early evening through to early morning entertainment. With a private club vibe, nu-disco sound track and relaxed interior fit-out of brick walls, framed pop culture portraits of Bruce Lee and Christopher Walken, leather couches, neon, and the odd dance pole, the accent at Flamingo is on fun helped along with big pour drinks (beware the huge apple ginger fizz bang punch) and a licence that runs until 7am.
Downstairs on the ground floor and fresh from its makeover, Geisha restaurant serves up a strident Californian-Japanese menu including a wide range of sushi, sashimi and maki, alongside dishes like flambeed lobster tail with zucchini and kumquat gelee, and miso-zuke Wagyu with sweet potato puree, yukari tofu, eggplant and kabocha squash. Add in the 2/F club lounge and roof bar with a tailored menu of sakes and shochus, as well as cocktails like the Yamazaki Julep of Japanese whiskey, plum wine, syrup and mint, and you’ve got absolutely no excuse for an early bath!
