Lolo Love Vintage
Some fashionable Shanghai regulars will be familiar with the name Lolo. She is not only one of China’s most sought-after make-up artists and stylists, but she also garnered oodles of style credibility and a dedicated following with the previous incarnation of her retail homage to all things retro, Lolo Love Vintage.
The huge premises might be new (the space was formerly an art gallery), but Lolo’s distinctive style remains, with crystal chandeliers, antique trunks, armoires, old-world dolls and ornaments adorning the interior. There’s even a delightful Salon de Thé lounge area at the storefront, so shoppers can recline in elegant style.
Lolo’s collection of internationally-sourced vintage fashion and objets is ever-evolving, but her most recent buying trips have seen a 20s to 40s-era focus emerge, along with a continually topped-up cache of 80s garb and a new section devoted to vintage bridal style.
You’re likely to find bejeweled accessories, handbags, high-end labels, prom dresses and even originally-packaged 70s pantyhose among the treasures. But it’s not just yesteryear’s fashion the charismatic owner wants to promote – Lolo hopes to advocate the lifestyle too, by hosting classic movie nights, swing parties and flea markets. Viva nostalgia, we say!
