For a country that has become the world’s largest manufacturer of raw cashmere (overtaking the namesake Kashmir region, with its thousands of years in the trade and production of shawls), China certainly took its time finding stride in the world of wool with a homegrown It-brand. But when Feine Cashmere entered the Shanghai scene in 2007, promising high-quality finished products combining domestic manufacture with Western style and sizing, it rather quickly gained steam and has over the past five years solidified its status as Shanghai’s go-to source for ready-to-wear cashmere goods.

The brainchild of Anja and Ashley Jones, who boast over 20 combined years of experience in China’s textiles industry, Feine Cashmere was borne out of the desire to create an accessible Chinese label, akin to established American brands like J. Crew and Ralph Lauren. Similarly, it offers an attractively priced collection that covers the spectrum – wrap cardigans and fringed shawls for ladies, cable-knit V-neck jumpers and scarves for gents, colourful crewnecks and vests for tots, and must-have winter accessories for all. Their selection of ‘home wear’ also includes delightfully soft cashmere throws and blankets, which make perfect gifts for loved ones. Feine, and dandy!
