Having returned to her native Shanghai after 30 years of living in New York and Sydney, Jeni Saeyang was dismayed to find that the green and ecological home and beauty products she preferred to use were all but unavailable or excessively priced, while locally-produced personal care brands were full of potentially harmful chemicals.
And so Saeyang founded Eco & More – 100% plant based, chemical free, and chock-full of essential oils, the brand has grown to encompass homecare products from fruit and vegetable wash to all-purpose cleaner, an aromatic range of shampoo, body wash and conditioner, as well as a complete baby range. And that’s just the start.
Last month saw the next step in the evolution of Eco & More with the opening of Eco Village, a 4,000sq ft complex entirely devoted to environmentally sustainable and healthy living. Encompassing not only a smart new store for the Eco & More range, the new space hosts a whole slew of additional small brands like clothing line Finch, beautifully constructed veneerware, bamboo utensils and kitchenware from Bambu, as well as eco-friendly bags from Somos Design and natural sleep products from Coco-Mat. Add an oxygen bar and a holistic detox centre as well as a space dedicated to classes and workshops promoting clean living, and suddenly a trip out to southern Xuhui is looking like a very smart move indeed. Go green!
