Breast Cancer Awareness Month
With over 1.5 million women diagnosed with breast cancer worldwide each year, the fight to end this disease grows ever more important, and so it is that each October breast cancer charities all over the globe band together for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Here’s just a few of the many global activities and products we’re loving that all aim to help make a difference and kick breast cancer’s bippy for good! Think Pink! Sponsored Walks and Runs
Many of our PenCities are doing their bit to raise awareness by organising citywide walks or runs, usually on such a large-scale (and with so much fabulous pink!) that passersby can hardly fail to take note, and with the added bonus of sponsorship, more and more money is being raised for research every year. The American Cancer Society is coordinating walks with their Making Strides campaign (http://makingstrides.acsevents.org
) in both Los Angeles on 19th October down the West Imperial Highway and in Chicago on 26th October starting at the Soldier Field Stadium Green. Avon (http://www.avonwalk.org
) will also be leading a walk through various districts of Manhattan, New York on 20th October. Meanwhile across the globe, supporters of the cause will be hiking up to The Peak in Hong Kong on 20th October (http://www.hkbcf.org/pinkwalk
) and in Tokyo people will Run For The Cure (http://www.runforthecure.org
) on 30th November. Pop online for a walk near you!Brands that give back…
New Balance 890V3
A sparkly new pair of trainers can be a great incentive to get fit for a sponsored walk or run, so New Balance (who also sponsor a number of the abovementioned events) are kindly donating a cut of their Lace Up For The Cure collection to the Susan G. Komen foundation, and of course, they come in a gorgeous shade of fuschia pink!

No, these aren’t clothes that have been popped in the tumble dryer with a rogue red sock, Ralph Lauren has deliberately pink-washed his iconic Polo horse to create these soft cotton tees, jerseys and totes featuring a yummy Pink Pony! Also available are the Pink Pony scented candles with pink lily, pink magnolia, sweet pea, pink Chinese peony and white rose fragrances. Ralph is a survivor himself, so of course a hefty portion of the Pink Pony profits goes to the Polo Ralph Lauren Foundation devoted to cancer care and prevention.
