Everyday is Saturday
Kate Spade Saturday
In the throes of global economic downturn, it’s nice to see those stylish trailblazers among us making it that much easier for recessionistas to stay chic and chipper in these trying times. Not content to rest on its prolific, high-end laurels, American mega-brand Kate Spade back in March launched diffusion line Kate Spade Saturday as an online-only retailer (except for 4 outlets in Japan) of more accessible, affordable and yet more vibrant apparel, accessories and homeware than its parent company.
In just 4 short months, such a success has the outing proved, that in the interim between the opening of a permanent brick-and-mortar store later in the year, the label’s first standalone pop-up has launched in the Meatpacking district to run through October.
Beyond the neon yellow storefront lies an eye-popping cache of predominantly fashion, accessories and travel goods, with a smattering homeware including graphically-printed mugs and blankets. Thigh-skimming sundresses, maxis, shifts and wrap dresses come in myriad colour-splashed and printed hues, while floral rompers, photographic tanks, and high-waisted shorts exude chic summery vibes and tons of fun.
Canvas weekend bags, day totes and cross-body purses line the industrial shelves, while Budweiser-packed cooler bags simply scream party in the park. And if that weren’t enough, there’s a roster of special events in the works to take place every, you guessed it, Saturday. Roll on the weekend!
