The beginning of March 2013 saw the Brooklyn-based menswear brand of Cadet finally march its military-inspired apparel onto Manhattan’s East 9th St in an intimate and minimalist store adorned with post-war bookends and black and white photographs of war veterans. It was after their Williamsburg shop’s year-long success that co-owners and life partners Brad Schmitt and Raul Arevalo decided to make their first foray downtown, enabling shoppers on both sides of the bridge to indulge in the duo’s modern take on army academy style, with everything handcrafted in their Bushwick factory.
Featuring their signature military colours and preppy style that manages to conquer both fashion and comfort, this season’s collection must-haves include the Aviator Pant (based on vintage trousers worn by the US Air Force) in tones such as olive drab and dark denim with custom rib cuffs, and the Cadet Pant in navy blue with a grey tuxedo stripe. As for the upper body, choose the slim-fitting Patrol Shirt & Tie in green cotton twill with custom-dyed buttons and forearm patches, perfect for pairing with a fitted camouflage Barracks Blazer made from high-quality Japanese fabric and Herringbone cotton twill. Other wardrobe essentials include cotton ties, lightweight head-wear and casual tees, along with PVC Collection slim-fit chinos and oxford shirts. We salute you, Cadet!
