Local Transportation
Though efficient, inexpensive and frequent, New York’s local public transport system of buses, trains and the subways may take a little mastering for first-time visitors. Metered yellow taxis are numerous, while luxurious Peninsula limousines ensure safe and comfortable transport around the city.
Limousine

For the ultimate in convenience and comfort, we recommend you book our limousine service for arriving at events or occasions in grand style – or just for sightseeing around the city. For transfer enquiries or arrangements, please call the Concierge Desk at (1-212) 903 2915.
Subway
New York has an efficient and extensive subway system, which is perhaps the fastest way to travel around the city.
The subway operates 24-hours a day, 7-days a week. The subway becomes extremely crowded during morning and evening rush hours, so it’s best to avoid these times if possible. For travel during early morning or late hours, the subway also provides specific surveillance areas in each station for passengers’ added safety.
The subway fare is US$ 2.25 per ride, and metro cards can be purchased at any subway station or many convenience stores.
For more information, please visit the
Metropolitan Transportation Authority website.
Taxi
The iconic “yellow cabs” or taxis are visible and readily available in every street of the city, except during ‘change over’ time between 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm daily. Taxis are an easy and fast alternative around the city, especially to any unfamiliar locations, except during morning and evening rush hours.
Vacant taxis are indicated by the centre lit light on the top. Standard fares can be seen in the Taxi Fares box to the right and a tip of 15% to 20% is expected.
