They're Playing Our Song
After its 1978 world premiere in Los Angeles, the comedy musical They’re Playing Our Song (TPOS) ran far and wide, gracing stages from New York’s Broadway to London’s West End, and now, this February, it arrives in Manila. Co-presented by The Rockwell Club and The Peninsula Manila, the musical tells the tale of a meeting between successful composer Vernon Gersch and aspiring young lyricist Sonia Walsk, following their series of trials and tribulations before the climactic revelation of their true love at the final curtain.
In fact, TPOS is based on the real-life love story of Tony Award-winning composer Marvin Hamlisch and Grammy Award-winning songwriter Carole Bayer Sager, but the impressive role call doesn’t end there. The musical also sees the return of prolific Filipina singer and actress Nikki Gil to the stage as Sonia, while established theater actor Lorenz Martinez tackles the role of Vernon, with renowned 9 Works Theatrical Artistic Director Robbie Guevara at the helm.
The production runs from February 9 to March 3, during which period the Peninsula Manila offers an irresistible musical package, where a stay includes tickets for two with round-trip transfers, a meet-and-greet with the cast, and to top it all off, a 3-course dinner for two at Old Manila.
Listen, they’re playing your song!
