US Fashion Pops Up
3.1 Phillip Lim Pop-up
For designer Phillip Lim, whose name has become synonymous with both effortless elegance and whimsical use of colour, a pop-up store in the style-centric city of Hong Kong was always going to be a sure-fire winner.
With hugely popular flagships already in New York, Los Angeles, Tokyo and in HK’s Harbour City mall, it’s no surprise that 3.1 Phillip Lim’s next fashion takeover would involve giving the island-side shoppers a ten-month-long, not-so-sneaky peek at their upcoming collections.
Stocking fresh merchandise every few months, the pop up is currently showing the last few days’ worth of holiday and resort-wear, before February sees the unveiling of the mens’ white and denim-focused spring/summer collection, with the funky prints of its womens’ spring counterpart launching in March (and finally the M/W fall offerings in June). And, delighting design aficionados as well as fashionistas, the double-decker, 800 sq ft store crafted by New York’s Jonathan Beck has décor that will change and evolve to mirror the collections within.
Its current bright white fit-out creates a vibe more reminiscent of an art installation than retail hub, with freestanding rails, accessory-topped wooden chests and louvered rotating walls displaying only the most coveted items. Pop in!
