The comprehensive guide to finding and choosing the trendiest clubs and venue to visit.
1/5 Nuevo
This is one of the best looking bars in Hong Kong, which makes it all the more surprising that is located in Wanchai. 1/5 Nuevo is home to one of Hong Kong’s best drinks lists and remains a deeply glamorous venue on weekends.
9 Star Street, Wanchai
Tel: (852) 2529 2300
Aqua Spirit
This glam venue is one of Hong Kong’s hottest bars, due in no small part to its unbeatable location on the 30th floor of a Tsim Sha Tsui high-rise, where slanted, soaring windows give an incredible bird’s-eye view of the city. Circular booths shrouded behind strung beads, designer drinks, and a voyeur’s dream location on an open mezzanine overlooking diners at the 29th-floor Aqua Tokyo & Roma, make this one of Kowloon’s most enduring venues.
30/F, One Peking, Tsim Sha Tsui
Tel (852) 3427 2288
Dragon-i
Simply everyone loves to be seen at this unceasingly photographed and gorgeously glamorous bar. Dragon-i continues to draw a fashionable crowd and has the hottest VIP rooms in town. The venue also offers lunch and dinner menus featuring Japanese and Cantonese cuisine.
UG/F, The Centrium, 60 Wyndham Street, Central
Tel: (852) 3110 1222
Drop
A trendy late night venue with music by some of the best DJs in town, the drinks most often ordered by the regulars are the various fruit-based martinis. As the selection changes frequently, ask the bartender for recommendations. Small and intimate, expect to queue for entry on weekends.
39-43 Hollywood Road, Central
Tel: (852) 2543 8856
Felix
The creation of the world-famous avant-garde designer, Philippe Starck, Felix offers breathtaking views of Victoria Harbour, Hong Kong Island and Kowloon. Other features include a Wine Bar, The Balcony, American Bar and The Crazy Box, a small discotheque.
28/F The Peninsula Hong Kong, Salisbury Road, Tsim Sha Tsui
Tel: (852) 2315 3188
Halo
Apparently an acronym for “Heavenly Aura, Lush and Opulent surroundings”, this club lives up to its name. This “members-only club” does have a tight door policy, but if luck is with you, you’ll get in to mingle with the Hong Kong glitterati.
LG/F 10-12 Stanley Street, Central
Tel: (852) 2810 1274
Habitat Lounge
Located high above the street congestion in Wan Chai lies this hidden gem with sweeping views of the neighbourhood, both old and new. The cocktails range from traditional to funky and you can choose between the comfy chill-out lounge area or the open-air balcony to settle in for the evening.
29/F QRE Plaza, 202 Queens Road East, Wan Chai
Tel: (852) 2907 0888
JaaBar
JaaBar is an exclusive cosy living room concept in the heart of Central. Also a revolving art gallery, JaaBar is decadent in its decoration, clever in its cocktails and masterly in its music. Although it is tiny, expect a like-minded clientele, great conversation (you can actually hear yourself speak) and shooter surprises from the convivial owners. A hidden gem.
Off Peel Street, Central. Follow the alleyway next to the Green Mouse Restaurant at 35 Peel Street
Tel: (852) 2815 8887
The Pawn
This three-storey restaurant, bar and roof garden now inhabits the historical Woo Cheong Pawn Shop and adjacent pre-war tenement houses. Open for lunch and dinner serving modern British cuisine.
62 Johnston Road, Wanchai
Tel: (852) 2866 3444
Isola Bar + Grill
Located at the spectacular waterfront ifc Mall, this chic Italian restaurant and bar occupying over 7,000 square feet also features a separate and spacious bar on the upper floor, with a large al fresco area.
Levels 3 and 4, IFC Mall, Central
Tel: (852) 2383 8765
OoLaa Restaurant and Bar
A restaurant, bar, lounge and coffee shop all rolled into one warm, stylish space summarises Oolaa’s gastro-pub appeal. Decked out in vintage floor tiles, warm woods and subdued lighting, it’s the perfect spot to watch the world go by in Soho. The menu offers an appealing selection of global favourites, with appetiser stars including the Pork Belly Lollypops and Crispy White Bait with Dill Crème Fraiche. Salads, gourmet pizzas, pasta and mains as well as a grill selection are on offer. Portions are sinfully generous and the dessert and wine lists tempt all palates.
G/F, Bridges Street, Centre Stage, Central
Tel: (852) 2803 2083
Salon de Ning
Enjoy signature cocktails and Asian-inspired light fare in The Peninsula’s brand new lounge, Salon de Ning. With a live band and its “Shanghai Deco” (Art Deco, with Chinese and international influences) look, this sophisticated venue, open from Monday to Saturday from 6:00 pm, is also ideal for private parties and events.

Inspired by Hong Kong socialite Bonnie Gokson, this penthouse restaurant and bar is located at the top of Central’s iconic Prince’s Building. With a lounge seating area and outdoor space, it is a “must see” address for anyone interested in the skyline of the Central Business District.
25th Floor, Prince’s Building, 10 Chater Road, Central
Tel: (852) 2537 1388
Shore
The theme “shore” is emblematic of the meeting point of land and water, not only is it a restaurant, it also has an 1,800 square foot al fresco terrace furnished with comfortable sofas with a cool ‘underwater’ bar concept that provides a chic and relaxing hang out space.
