Primitive Showroom
The go-to retail destination for goods with a tale to tell, the four-storey, 31,000 sq ft Primitive Showroom is a wall-to-wall decorator’s dream cache of museum-worthy objects. Exuding a vibe more reminiscent of Aladdin’s cave than a commercial space, the Primitive trove overflows with globally-sourced items hand-selected for sale, with everything from antique furniture and scared paintings, to era-specific fashion and modern homeware pieces all chosen for their quality, artistry, cultural significance and of course rarity and beauty. There are ancient Chinese toggles, Thai mantra bracelets, vintage Indian textiles and 120-year-old woodblock prints by Japanese artist Tsukioka Yoshitosh, plus an in-house-designed Primitive Furniture Collection that marries high-grade materials with impeccable craftsmanship and takes its inspirations from more than 100 cultures worldwide.
But it’s not just the products that are showstopping; the space is a work of art in itself, with stunning, 1,000 year-old stone-tiled flooring, a genuine Chinese village house occupying a first-floor corner, a second-floor Himalayan temple with Indian lingham stone wishing well (big spenders, make a wish to the credit card fairy?) and a Japanese roof garden perfect for a few post-spree deep breaths. Got a taste for cultural eccentricity or just fancy bringing back the watch fob? Then go Primitive!
