Blue Jean Baby
When it comes to making jeans, the US really has the entire market covered. There’s the super high-end (7 For All Mankind), the fashionable, yet accessible mid-range (Rag & Bone), and all the way down to line to the mass-market pleasing GAP.
Chicagoans are fortunately able to place hands on just about all the labels the States have to offer, but as of April, denim enthusiasts got even luckier with the opening of J. Crew little sis Madewell’s latest flagship on Rush Street, an airy three-salon set-up with an entire room dedicated to their beloved denim range.
Brand favourite Skinny Skinny Ankle Jeans compress and caress in a range of on-trend hues, while this season’s must-have Boy Jeans graze ankles with stylish perfection. Hazy summer days can be spent wrapped in feather-light chambray shirts, sun-faded linen tees and saucy polka-dot shorts, while breezier still are their silk cami dresses in a pretty spectrum of floral designs.
In the shoe department, Madewell has brought in a number of ‘de rigueur’ labels such as Swedish Hasbeens for those leg-lengthening clogs, and Bensimon for the compulsory ‘boyfriend’ sneakers. From the finely-detailed, comfort-classic clothes, to the bespoke artwork hanging on its walls, the new Rush Street flagship really is, like it says on the tin, made well.
