To Market We Go
Little Market Brasserie
With an impressive resume that includes stints at The French Laundry and Le Francais, as well as his own offerings Butter, Tavernita and the adjoining Barcito (the latter two in conjunction with Mercadito Hospitality), Ryan Poli has very little left to prove in Chicago’s culinary circles. But that hasn’t stopped him adding yet another string to his versatile bow, as Poli departs from his recent Latin-themed offerings to present Little Market Brasserie, an accessible yet refined, French-meets-American diner just launched on the Gold Coast.
Black and white diamond flooring, clean-lined, pale wood banquettes, contemporary bentwood chairs and a light-flooded interior serve to modernise the traditional bistro aesthetic, while the house-made, soda-driven cocktail program developed by beverage partners the Tippling Brothers bring on-trend flavours like cornflower yuzu and blood orange cinnamon to the mixology forefront. As for the menus, lunchtime brings with it salads, soups and sandwiches, while dinner’s small and share plates run the gamut from shrimp cocktail to ceviche, and salmon with lentils, with house specialities such as deviled eggs, Baja Lobster Roll with chipotle and slaw, and poutine making welcomed appearances on both. Breakfast and brunch feature the raved-about signature Buttermilk Biscuits & Gravy, plus there’s a generous smattering of imported and local beers, New and Old World wines, aperitifs and bubbles. To Market we go!
