A Gent’s Wonderland
One could argue that the male aversion to shopping is often derived from the arduousness of straggling from store to store in search of the perfect pair of jeans, the sharpest suit, or the season’s must-have satchel, but this season Chicago lays that excuse firmly to rest: the Windy City’s gentlemen have now found relief from shopping grief in the form of all-under-one-roof luxury mens’ outfitters Haberdash. Already much-loved by locals in its two existing smaller incarnations, enterprising owners Jerry Kamhi and Adam Beltzman have decided to go all out with a fab 4,000-square-foot flagship store housed in the South Loop’s Roosevelt Collection complex.
The polished concrete floors lined with Persian rugs and Chesterfield sofas are just for starters: this shiny new store boasts not only a La Colombe coffee bar but also an old-school barbershop by Blind Barber, offering hot-lather shaves, haircuts and manly cosmetic supplies from Malin + Goetz, Aesop, and Baxter. Also new is private label Haberdash Bespoke No.607, a collection of tailored separates made-to-measure on request, and racked up alongside their usual slew of Italian, British and American designers. Look out for polished brogues from Brit label Grensons, US-manufactured raw denim from Rogue Territory, and hand-sewn shirts from the New England Shirt Co. And needless to say, these slick fellas have also got accessories covered with thick pocket squares, wool ties and covetable watches from Shinola. Dash to it!
