Last week we sent you along for a retro wardrobe shake-up courtesy of Pilsen’s Revival a Go-Go
, and now we’ve found the perfect place for you to show it off. From the team behind South Loop’s popular Eleven City Diner comes Eleven Lincoln Park, a nostalgia-drenched sister deli complete with old-fashioned candy counter, in-house soda fountain, neckerchief-clad wait staff, and a specialty sandwich that will keep even the most monstrous hunger at bay (not to mention local cardiologists in business!).
The new Eleven’s throwback fitout doesn’t just extend to the chocolate leather booths and stools, lashings of white tile and deco-esque chrome – there are days of yore accessories in every nook, including a vintage cake carousel and even an original mid-century multimixer – souped-up with a Bosch engine of course. Along with menu classics like milkshakes, phosphates, pastramis, burgers and sundaes, Eleven Lincoln Park boasts several signature additions, most notably the #43 Sandwich; a heart-stopping mountain of layered corned beef, potato latke, sour cream and onion rings on a challah bun. Meats, cheeses and smoked fish can be purchased to go from the deli counter, or for a spot of mid-shop refreshment why not pitch up at the soda counter and try one of the two home-brewed, barrel-aged root beers. Swell!
