A unified gasp. The swish of expensive leather. The clack-clack-clacking of stilettos in a high-fashion frenzy. These were the sounds that echoed across Chicago as British luxury brand Burberry cut the ribbon on its long-awaited flagship store. Just shy of 15,000 sq ft and spanning five floors, the interior is a stylish haven of dark-wood and cream, with a black chrome and glass façade that replicates the iconic tartan pattern.
Alongside current collections of cocktail dresses and suave suits renowned for their chic amalgam of classic meets on-trend, this couture central spot is also home to limited edition apparel and accessories exclusive to Chicago, from buckled clutches and studded strappy sandals, to luxe outerwear for both men and women. And updating your look doesn’t have to stop there – you can also re-stock your makeup bag at the country’s first Burberry Beauty Counter, or gain some shopping inspiration from their Retail Theatre Concept, where flat-screens dotted around the store broadcast live runway shows and promote new collections. There’s even the label’s premiere in-store bespoke service, allowing shoppers to customise the iconic Burberry trench, which celebrates its 100th birthday next year. With a choice of more than 12 million potential designs, finally Windy City fashionistas can wave a stylish bye-bye to same-coat shame. Purses at the ready!
