Famed among the fashionable set for his luxe leathers and super-soft cashmere, high-end Italian brand Brunello Cucinelli finally arrived in Chicago last June, landing on Rush Street in a chic pale wood store decorated with butter-soft leather chairs and vintage artefacts from his hometown of Solomeo, Italy. Bringing his range of luxurious Italian-crafted clothing, accessories and footwear to the city’s most stylish men and women, Cucinelli is known for casually sophisticated collections boasting fine craftsmanship, soft muted colours, and for being almost entirely devoid of black.
Coming in pretty pastel shades, the spring/summer looks for women include handmade tees with cashmere overlay and light, water-repellent capes and biker jackets along with chunky cotton-knit cardigans and chiffon jerseys. There are also vintage silk-muslin skirts, textured Bermuda shorts and accessories like calf-leather flip-flops, jewelled wedges and pearlised crust-leather bags. In the men’s department, one-and-a-half breasted cotton jackets and wool or silk blazers with peak lapels are stocked alongside denim vests, slim-fit button-downs, dip-dyed drill trousers and linen cargo shorts. And to complete the long list of wardrobe stockers for the trendsetting man, there’s even sumptuous v-neck sweaters made from cashmere and silk, striped cable-knits, calf-leather wingtip shoes and must-have English vintage leather bags like backpacks, totes and laptop cases.
