Party Hair, Party There!
Blow by Blow Salon
It’s a devastating fact, but the majority of women in the western world are genetically unable to blow dry their own hair. This lamentable malady, known variously as myarmsachea and damnbrushstuckitis sadly has no known cure, leaving those sufferers game enough to actually try lifting a hairdryer with the inevitable and all too obvious results. But that’s precisely where mother and daughter team Julie and Katie Gagnon stepped in with Chicago’s premier blow-dry bar, saving women citywide from hair hell and triste tresses with a natty eight-look menu and a whippy, up-do vibe that puts the aah in party and the volume where it rightly belongs.
For USD35 you can take your pick of the brush and curl action, or splash for add-ons like hair masks and head massage while you thumb the shelf-fresh stock of glossies, or take in a movie with a cup of joe or bubbles (or lemon water if you’re hyper, or silly enough to be on the Beyonce diet). With an in-house makeup line on hand from Claudio Riaz, the chic white salon doubles as the perfect party and event space, and they even offer a handy under-12’s blowout called ‘The Starlet’. Bad hair be blowed!
