Velvet by Graham & Spencer
in 1997, their concept was simple – to create fashionable, wearable and flexible high quality women’s tanks, tops and tees. And like so many simple concepts, word spread like wildfire. Within months they were selling through boutiques across the world as well as key US fashion anchors Anthropologie, Nordstroms, Saks and Bloomingdales, with the label eventually expanding to encompass a complete line of dresses, jackets, skirts, shirts and blouses.
Cut to 2013 with the development of Velvet for men, a line of girlswear and even a limited edition collaboration with Lily Aldridge (supermodel and original face for the brand), as well as luxury casual spin-off line Graham & Spencer, the time was ripe for a standalone store. June 2013 saw the 1,500 sqft pitched pine-roofed and airy Brentwood Velvet flagship throw open its doors to lucky Angelistas, shelving the complete range of apparel in juicy, summer-fresh hues against a background of blizzard-white walls and floor. And as sure as success breeds success, there’s already a second 1,200 sqft Venice location planned for later in August. Summer, sorted!
