With all the ingredients for the culinary equivalent of a Hollywood blockbuster, RivaBella debuted in January to these impressive opening credits: directed by the industry vets at Innovative Dining (also behind Katana, BOA and Delphine), starring Chef Gino Angelini (of Angelini Osteria renown), and with a set designed by Studio Collective (of the award-winning Spare Room cocktail bar) to replicate a rustic 8,000 sq ft Tuscan farmhouse smack dab on Sunset Boulevard. Luckily, the restaurant has already proven a hit, with early accolades from critics ensuring both the modern wood, leather, and marble interior and lush, trellised outdoor patio are packed through lunch and dinner service.
Chef Angelini brings his famed home-style cooking to the decidedly more upscale RivaBella, dishing up regional Italian fare like the Sicilian-style branzino and Milanese veal chop, as well as a handful of Angelini Osteria favourites like the famous linguine con ricci di mar with uni sauce, and his nonna’s veal and beef lasagne verde. There’s a fully-stocked marble bar as well as a wine cave which houses the extensive wine list, offering 20+ selections by the glass or carafe and a focus on Italian, French, and local Californian labels. And for VIP screenings, the cave doubles as a private room for parties up to 50. Showtime!
