Walk On The Wild Side!
If you are desperately looking for Rachel Berks and Marisa Suarez-Orozco’s indie design studio and retail boutique Otherwild on Hollywood Boulevard, stop!
Though they only occupied the space for just on a year, the eclectic trove has up and moved to new premises in Echo Park, but fans can rest assured that even though the location is new, their fabulously-curated selection of handmade and one-of-a-kind art, jewellery, fashion and homey ephemera, plus professional design services list have not only retained their artistic inspiration and appeal, they’ve even grown in size and scope.
In a gallery-like space of distressed concrete floors and simple white-washed walls, Assembly Design’s Hyde candlesticks, Cameron Stark’s stone bowls and vases, and Abalone shell smudge pots (for sage burning) sit alongside agate, amethyst and quartz rings by Adina Mills, graphic Arc of La clutches, and art by A. L. Steiner.
Also surviving the move is the store’s popular public events roster, including vintage pop-ups, flash sales and book fairs, as well as their range of professional design services. With a portfolio comprising branding, website, graphic and marketing collateral design work, as well as catalogue and video conceptualisation and direction, Otherwild’s offering is as diverse as it is dreamy.
