Hi-ho Silver Lake, Away!
Guy time! Think timber floors, monochrome photo prints, plus a very handsome, long navy feature wall against which the myriad must-have apparel is racked, and you’ve got independent trendspot Silver Lake’s newest menswear shop, Mohawk Man. Born of the super-popular Mohawk General Store with its tingle-fresh take on male and female fashion and lifestyle, the owners Kevin and Bo Carney soon realised the burgeoning market in men’s retail was a niche too good not to expand into, and June saw the shutters go up on its little bro just a few doors down on West Sunset.
With a piping hot edit of must-have labels and designers on its roster, East-side gentlemen and urban dandies are snapping up everything from Engineered Garments and Dries Van Noten, to Aspesi, Tellason, and Industry of All Nations. Add to that a seriously covetable range of leather goods, hip kicks from Wakouwa, grooming needs from the likes of Baxter and Imperial Barber, as well as design and interiors magazines like Habitus and Apartamento, all served up to vintage vinyl beats, and you’ve got a seriously trig guy shopportunity. And the best thing? It’s but two pixie skips to the full womenswear and apothecary range at Mohawk General Store and stalwart Frenchkin fave Cafe Stella. Hi-ho Silver Lake, away!
