The Emerson Theatre
Hollywood’s newest party palace Emerson Theatre opened in January to welcome flocks of Los Angeles’ most well-heeled, well-known, and well-dressed, counting among its opening week celebrity attendees Rihanna, Paris Hilton and Vin Diesel. Its immediate success is little surprise, given that it’s the latest to join Sam Nazarian’s SBE Group, with LA hotspots Greystone Manor and Vanguard as well as Miami’s Hyde Beach among the many in its nightlife repertoire.
And Emerson upholds Nazarian’s legacy, hosting one star-studded event after another, with the likes of Wiz Khalifa live, Oscars after parties, and the 30-under-30 bash all in the last month’s line-up alone.
Designed to recreate an atmospheric 1920s burlesque hall vibe, the space features two bars, strips of vintage-style Edison bulbs, shimmering gold curtains, plenty of plush velvet bottle-service booths, and gleaming surfaces on which feather-adorned burlesque dancers shimmy to the house beats.
The music isn’t the only C.21st aspect contrasting the otherwise nostalgic ambiance of the club – LED lights flicker from the ceilings alongside the vintage bulbs, confetti and smoke shoot from the cannons on stage, and a line of Peter Kanaat-crafted specialty cocktails feature updated classics. Try the Margarita with Corzo tequila and jalapeños, or the Mojito with house made watermelon puree and Bacardi light rum – this is Hollywood, after all. Curtain up!
