Era-sistible fashion pops up for grabs
Vintage Pop-up Marketplace by A Current Affair
Attention would-be bargain basement shoppers, this post is not, we repeat, not for you. Do not confuse the word ‘vintage’ with ‘thrift’.
This semi-annually staged pop-up marketplace is a highly-edited, expertly-curated, top-end label-fest, where you are as likely to find rare and collectible Chanel, Alaia and YSL as spy glamorous Hollywood starlets like Marisa Tomei shopping the swoon-worthy cache.
For only the second time in 2012, more than 30 vendors will gather in South LA’s Cooper Design Space on October 6 to peddle their fabulously nostalgic wares, and while drinks flow from the open bar, Jen Rosero of Bolthouse Productions plays guest host and curator, and KCRW DJ Marion Hodges provides the hip soundtrack.
Separates, couture, jewellery, furs and purses, oh my! A veritable who’s who of local and international vintage sourcing will be there, including Paris’s Sarah Steinitz with her 1920-90s cocktail dress, suiting, and leather collection, German-born Weltenbuerger’s progressive and experimental fashion finds, and homegrown label Scout designer/owner and Current Affair co-founder Joey Grana’s exquisite one-off vintage gems and original designs.
US$20 will buy you a special admission preview one-hour prior to the general opening at 2pm, but if fate intervenes and you can’t make the event, simply pop online to the e-shop to get your fix – though we strongly recommend doing so with a glass of bubbles in hand, darling.
