Baguanfa / Cupping
Baguanfa Cupping is a deeply therapeutic treatment in which glass cups are gently suctioned to the skin to refocus the flow of qi, the body’s vital energy and blood circulation, in order to alleviate discomfort and symptoms of illness. Cupping is also used to heal lower back pain, sprains and soft tissue injuries. Increased blood supply to skin and muscles removes toxins, and nourishes and stimulates circulation and lymphatic systems. Bruising may occur from cup placement and increased blood circulation.
GUA SHA / SCRAPING
Gua Sha is a healing therapy where the skin is repeatedly stimulated with a piece of jade, resulting in the appearance of small red patches called sha. Special oil is applied to the problem area prior to scraping, and patches of redness generally fade within two to three days. Gua Sha is a very effective treatment for headaches and neck, shoulder, joint and back pain. Raising sha relieves pain, stiffness,
fever, chills, cough and nausea. It also improves blood circulation and metabolic processes.
TUI NA REMEDIAL MASSAGE
Tui Na is a form of bodywork that has been used in China for centuries. It is best suited for rectifying chronic pain, musculoskeletal conditions and stress-related disorders that affect the digestive and respiratory systems. It also helps treat headaches, constipation, premenstrual symptoms and some emotional imbalances. Pressure is applied to acupressure points, meridians and groups of muscles and nerves to remove blockages that prevent the flow of qi. A combination of massage and other manipulations helps to restore balance and leads to improved health and vitality.
