Fashion designer Stella McCartney long ago stepped out from the long shadows cast by her rockstar father Sir Paul, working tirelessly to secure a name for herself as one of the top contemporary womenswear designers on the scene. Today she has not only outfitted the ultra-glamorous likes of Liv Tyler, Cameron Diaz and Kate Hudson among countless other A-listers, but also established her brand as a frontrunner in the budding school of fashion sustainability. It makes sense then that she should launch her first ever standalone boutique in Beijing at the environmentally-friendly, LEED-certified Parkview Green complex, bringing her signature sharp-meets-femme aesthetic to a bi-level shop that houses the full current RTW collection, plus lingerie, accessories and childrenswear.
With sustainable oak parquet floors decked out in bespoke herringbone pattern, signature 3D rhombus tiled walls made from recycled aluminium, and brass sculptural railings and fixtures on which McCartney’s offerings hang, the boutique is as sleek and eco-conscious as the merchandise itself. Find here the oversized tailoring, boxy cuts, and sporty silhouettes that define her spring/summer 2013 collection; each softened by the use of delicate materials like silk and organza. And certainly don’t miss the limited edition releases of the ‘Falabella’ bag – one a stunning, crystal-embroidered foldover tote and the other an anything-but-basic black clutch – each available only in the Beijing (as well as the Shanghai) flagship.
