Suits and Sups
Continuing to assert itself as Beijing’s default fashion and dining destination
, Parkview Green ramps up its international style quotient with not only heritage British menswear from Alfred Dunhill, but heritage British cookery courtesy of the latest outpost of Dunhill’s successful Hong Kong dining favourite, Alfie’s. With more button-back leather upholstery, art deco glazing and dark wooden panelling than you can throw a custom-grade, wide-fit brogue at (as well as a masculine, mirror-polished marble bar), into the mix Alfie’s tosses a nickel-plated foosball table – the perfect foil to the stiffly starched napery of the restaurant.
Designed to evoke a gentlemen’s club and day-long refuge, the lounge, bar and dining salon offer the perfect blend of quiet sophistication and relaxed bonhomie segueing neatly from business breakfast or lunch into after-work drinks and dinner. The classic redux menu offers a jolly gambol around the tried and trusted gastro-Brit tree with the likes of fish and chips, shepherd’s pie and roast of the day jockeying for position alongside more global-inflected comfort plates like suckling pig (for two people) and a salt beef sandwich featuring local Yue Sheng Zhai Muslim beef on rye with mustard mayo and gherkins. But beware, with apple and raisin crumble and Eton Mess heading the dessert offerings, you may find you require an extra size when heading upstairs to the Dunhill store. Suits you, sir!
