What makes the desert beautiful, is that somewhere it hides a well’ – so read the poignant words from the beloved tale Little Prince, inscribed on a wall at Park Square and a telling prelude to what’s in store at this recent addition to Lido. The light-flooded space of elegant deep brown leather banquettes, dark striated marble tables and modern white armchairs features a verdant alfresco dining area in the backyard, glowing orange shelves of liquor behind the bar, and wine bottles enclosed in glass cases lining the length of the café.
Begin with a signature cocktail like the Pink Park Yoghurt (an ice-blended mix of raspberry vodka, yoghurt and an assortment of berries) while you survey the elegantly-plated Continental bites on offer, including a creamy lobster bisque with large, tender chunks of lobster; baked cod on a delicate bed of ginger and miso-scented black rice, sugar snaps and shiitake; or a selection of grilled prime Australian cuts ranging from pork ribs and sirloin to rib eye. Dessert is a welcome sight for the sweet-toothed, with bites like chiffon-light mango mousse cake topped with generous scoops of mango sorbet and vanilla ice-cream, and dark-chocolate topped American cheesecake with mixed berry sauce. We’re sure even Saint-Exupéry would be thrilled.
