Nestled on the first floor of trendy lifestyle megastore ZEN since February, chic new gastro-bar Ying Yang is the most recent must-try eatery to join the array of global dining in the CentralWorld hub. Serving modern Asian fare in a dark, sensual and minimalist setting, the interior features wall cabinets of contemporary ceramics, and communal tables, low-lit with overhead spotlights.
The joint venture of local celebrity friends including singer Nat Myria Benedetti and actor Aum Atichart Chumnonont, the food menu puts a contemporary twist on traditional Thai cooking. Whet your appetite with spicy laab ped duck salad, or for a gentler start the crispy tofu ‘popcorn’, followed by crab curry and Singapore cracker cups with bamboo shoots, minced pork and tofu.
Elsewhere on the Asian faves menu you’ll find pork with floss, traditional Thai hor mok curried fish custard and a stalwart if not standout Hainanese chicken rice. Led by mixologist Fahbeer Suchada, the experienced team of bartenders offer creative cocktails inspired by the 12 astrological signs with names like Madam White Snake and Funky Piglet, but if themed drinks unbalance your yin and yang, there’s a decent list of imported beer and wine to fall back on. Chok dee!
