Every self-respecting Bangkok sweet-tooth will by now have heard about the arrival of Petite Audrey, that delightful Siam Center offshoot of the Thonglor original – conveniently providing welcome respite after the hours of pavement-pounding and shopping that undoubtedly occur when in this part of town. ‘Petite’ by name and in a mall it may be, but Petite Audrey is big on both décor and flavour, an ambient enclave with a vintage atmosphere and sweet treats that transport you elsewhere.
The space is divided into indoor and ‘outdoor’, with soft lighting, marble tables, oversized French windows and the same café chairs dotting Parisian sidewalks, while the menu mirrors the European influence. There are pizzas, pastas, a handful of fusion dishes and some Thai favourites on offer, but the Petite Audrey must-orders are certainly the desserts. There’s the classic – strawberry shortcake, carrot cake, and New York-style cheesecake; and then there’s the creative – banana samosa suzette, the ‘Tokyo Mood’ (fried red bean puff with green tea ice cream), and the signature ‘Thai Tea Crepe’ (like a millefeuille with layers of spongy crepes, and topped with thick Thai tea frosting). Move over Mango Tango, PA has quickly become the first port of call for getting a Siam-side sugar fix!
