East Meets East End
Sane of Molly
Inspired by the stylish street fashion of London’s trendy Shoreditch neighbourhood, Bangkok-based designer Sansanee Thoesomboon founded men’s and womenswear label Sane of Molly in 2009, focusing on the key contrasting elements of romance and rock, and shaping a signature aesthetic melding vintage appeal with modern details.
Each of her resulting collections has expertly showcased uniquely wearable pieces that are both edgy and flirty, bringing a character-packed taste of East London grunge to the Thai city streets.
Having received both local and international acclaim and with global stockists from the UK to Australia, Thoesomboon was invited to show in Austria at MQ Vienna Fashion Week this year. Taking for her latest Spring/Summer collection the theme ‘The Folk Tale of The Futuristic Mind’, she envisioned innovative takes on 80s style, which translated into geometric pieces like cut-out petal dresses for ladies and pocket-detailed denim jackets for gents, with everything softened into a pastel palette of pinks and greys, and constructed using materials like silk and organza.
If there’s one thing Thoesomboon knows how to do, it’s evolve her brand with definitive seasonal identities – last season it was the rock and roll-inspired ‘The Rebirth of the Rebellion’, this season it’s ethereal scenes from the future, who knows what’s next?
