Hold The Front Page!
With so many venues now trying to bridge the gap from bar into all-in-one lounge, club and restaurant, it’s a welcome change to find a new bar that is, well, just that. A bar. In fact, more of joint - a relaxed, no attitude, sit-down-and-drink den with groovy sounds and great drinks... and no service charge!
With only 50 seats spread over the main bar, downstairs area, compact mezzanine and outside terrace, ‘print’ ramps up the personal service and cosy atmosphere with a smooth, funk/soul-based tracklist courtesy of famed music concierge BrightEars, and crisp monotone fitout of black glass and white walls plastered with sketches, graphic design, photography and printed materials.
Menu highlights are the Thai-tweaked cocktails like Ginger Mush, a slush-style aromatic blend of vodka, ginger and lime, and the seriously perky Tamarind Margarita, a bitter-hit of tequila, triple sec, tamarind and orange, but there’s a tight edit of bottled craft beers, and wine by the glass too.
When the snacking urge strikes, reach for the mini rare tuna burgers with wasabi mayo, hard-boiled quail eggs with dipping salt, or warmed haloumi with artichoke hearts and pesto. There’s even a ‘graffiti-encouraged' bathroom where you can ink your own art with the marker pens supplied. As they say, it really is all in the small ‘print’.
