It's Happened To Be A Closet
Is it a shop? Is it a salon? Or is it a restaurant? These are the questions that men may be asking about the unique ‘It’s Happened To Be A Closet’ at the Emporium, while the ladies may simply refer to the 3-in-1 concept as ‘nirvana’, or rather – girl-vana. Designed to fit the bill of a woman’s dream closet, the shop manages to combine its unique stock of vintage, new-but-retro, and made-to-order fashion with a cute on-site mani/pedi salon, as well as a little café with fun seasonal dishes for peckish shoppers.
With walls covered in mismatched printed wallpaper and heavy chandeliers illuminating the shop, this thrifter’s paradise sees every shelf and surface stacked with goods from sequined shirts to embroidered pants. Vintage handbags hang from lamps, while pashminas drape over armchairs, and bottles of perfume line the makeshift nightstands.
In the midst of the closet madness, dining tables are set up with a daily menu promising whatever’s fresh – recent highlights have included river prawn salad with fresh mango, imported Australian Tajima Wagyu striploin, and lobster fettucine with white wine sauce. And if you seek a more private experience, book the new ‘Duchess’ private dining room (seats 6) for a decadent dinner, served with a side of personalised shopping – nifty!
