Thonglor Time

Gossip Eats and Drinks

Anyone who has eaten at the famed Pourcel brother’s Bangkok outpost D’Sens would have, until recently, sampled the creative, often complex cooking of chef de cuisine Julien Lavigne.

So it comes as some surprise to find him now located behind the stoves of Thonglor newbie ‘gastropub’ Gossip, where his fresh, modern take on southern French classic fare is paired with former Zuma mixologist Karol Ansaldi’s inventive blends. It’s a pairing that promises a bright and buzzing future.

Set in a modern, airy 2-floor space at the end of Thonglor’s Soi 15, the glass and warm wood boite offers seating on both levels, with bar downstairs and a spacious, glass-roofed timber deck with high stools and pond – the perfect spot to shoot the city breeze while indulging with the flip-fresh, 2-person seafood platter with its generous helping of crayfish, crab claws and oysters.

For his part, Lavigne is as likely to be serving chicken and truffle cream soup as a well-seasoned wagyu burger, cod & anchovy rillettes, or duck bisque with foie gras wonton and porcini foam, while Ansaldi transports a summer garden into your glass with his bubbly cava-based Flower Field Spritzer, combining lavender bitters, elderflower and rose. Snag a deck perch and prepare for a really good gossip!

For sheer style-for-dollar value, Bangkok is impossible to beat, with exceptional dining, world-renowned shopping and impeccable service. Add to this a rich and extraordinary heritage, stunning sightseeing and the friendliest of welcomes, and you’ll realise why it’s the jet-set choice for rest, retail and discovery.
