My Cup of Tea
In the cutthroat world of international fashion, only a handful of Thai designers have ever graced the global stage, despite becoming household names in their native country. Disaya is one of the lucky few, with a 2007 debut collection that was immediately picked up by 70 stockists worldwide, and which today can be found not only in the Bangkok flagship, but also in cities from Hong Kong to Dubai, as well as online at British e-tailer giant Asos.
Founded by Central Saint Martins graduate Disaya Sorakraikitikul, the eponymous label has in six short years grown to include seasonal ready to wear, a jewellery collection, as well as the Boudoir by Disaya lingerie line – with each piece boasting the signature, sophisticated aesthetic of youthful innocence.
Although Disaya showed her spring summer 2013 collection at Thailand Creative & Design Center in February, it’s the ultra-feminine autumn winter 2012 collection that’s set to arrive in stores this season. Titled “My Cup of Tea”, the collection is inspired by traditional afternoon tea, with colours and textures reminiscent of blue and white china, frocks in floral prints and pastel lace, and accessories featuring quirky statement pieces like cupcake charm rings and cute enamel bow bangles.
