Local Transportation

The unpredictable traffic can sometimes make travelling around Bangkok a great feat. To beat this, The Peninsula"s luxurious limousine fleet is simply the best way to get around Bangkok. The modern SkyTrain and new subway system is another affordable and efficient means for travelling to a majority of attractions and shopping area. For the more adventurous, the picturesque tuk-tuks offer a uniquely Thai  experience as you make your way through the streets of Bangkok.

Limousine

Limousine
The Peninsula Bangkok operates Rolls-Royce Silver Spurs and Mercedes-Benz S-Class 280L limousines, for the convenience and comfort of its guests. These chauffeur-driven vehicles are available for hire on an hourly basis within the city or for longer journeys out of town.

Advance booking is recommended.

Taxi

Metered taxis are plentiful and inexpensive, but communication may be challenging as most drivers do not speak English. It is always advisable to have your destination written in Thai by the hotel Concierge. Traffic is always an unpredictable factor, especially during morning and evening rush hours, which can triple or quadruple the usual travelling time.

The flag fall is 35 Thai Baht for the first 2 km and each subsequent kilometre is approximately 4.5 Thai Baht.

Sky Train

The elevated BTS (Bangkok Mass Transit System), more commonly known as the Sky Train, is perhaps the most efficient way to travel around the city centre, major shopping, commercial and tourist attractions. Fares are comparable to travelling by taxi, and you can be assured of no traffic jams. Day passes or stored value tickets are available.

In addition, Bangkok is also served by the MRT subway system which interconnects to the Sky Train at a few stations, namely Saladaeng / Silom, Asoke / Sukhumvit and Mochit / Chatuchak Park.

The Peninsula Bangkok is conveniently located diagonally across the Chao Phraya River from the Saphan Taksin Sky Train station. The hotel operates a complimentary ferry shuttle daily, from 6:00 am to 12 midnight between the hotel and the Sky Train station.

For more information, please visit the BTS Skytrain website.

Tuk Tuk

The tuk-tuk is an option for the adventurous to get a complete experience of Bangkok. The tuk-tuk is a re-configured three-wheel motorbike with covered seats for two passengers in the back. It is only to be recommended for short journeys or as a novelty ride. Fares need to be negotiated before getting in, as most tuk-tuk drivers will usually first quote a higher price for bargaining down.

Canal Boat

Quick, exhilarating but cramped and awkward, these covered longtail boats ply the Chao Phraya River. They can be hired for sightseeing tours – contact the Concierge for full details and bookings.
